She was silent the entire trip. Her silence punctuated by
long sighs, which turned to quiet sobs when I asked if she was all right. She
shook her head. I said, “You can tell me”,
as the car stopped at destination. “I
can’t.” she said, shaking her head tears were flowing now. I reached for an
orange and said, “This will make your
sadness go away.” She cupped the orange like her life depended upon it,
smiled, wiped her tears then gently got out of the car. Man, such sadness! The
raw emotion so thick, I can almost touch it.
