Trek's End
Light was fading and rain poured. Mud pools dot the trails. I slid a couple of times while negotiating a long and steep downhill climb. Then the rain stopped. The sky cleared and stars appeared. We reached town in the middle of the night. We removed our backpacks and fell exhausted around a campfire. I took my shoes off and massaged my feet while listening to the others tell stories about the trek. Talks like these are always pleasant especially with strong local wine and hot, native chicken stew!
